Donald Clausen, 84, of Edison, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017, at the Mary Anne Hale Pavilion Hospice, Edison.
Born in New Brunswick, he was a lifelong resident of the Bonhamtown section of Edison.
He graduated from Metuchen High School in 1950. He then joined the Airforce, serving in the Korean War from 1951-1955, where he was Honorably Discharged as an Airman First Class. Upon returning home, Donald enrolled in Washington College, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order, played baseball and graduated with a BA in 1959.
He worked for many years for the State of NJ Division of Actuarial Services in the Department of Insurance, before his early retirement in 1987.
Donald was a lifelong member of the Grace Reformed Church, Edison.
He was an avid golfer and reader, keeping busy at the racetrack and studying horses or on the golf course perfecting his game.
Donald was the last member of the original Clausen family. He was predeceased by his siblings William Clausen, Robert Clausen and his wife Ethel and Beverly Julia and her husband Walter.
Surviving is his sister-in-law, Helen Clausen of Ausable Forks, NY and nieces and nephews, Bill Clausen, Barbara Rusignuolo, Bob Clausen, Diane Demetroulakos, Patty Reilly and John Julia.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, February 21, 2017, from 10-11am followed by a Service at 11am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt.27) Metuchen.
Interment is in First Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Woodbridge.
