Donald Peterson, 83, of Asbury, passed away peacefully at his home on February 10, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Born in Perth Amboy, he lived in Edison before moving to Asbury in 1992. He proudly served in the US Navy. He worked for Evonik in Piscataway for over 40 years. He was an avid fisherman who shared his love for the outdoors with his family. He especially enjoyed the wildlife around his home in Asbury.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ghilino (d.1983); and a son, Barry (d.2015).
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patricia (neeParker); a daughter, Joy Mechler & her husband George of North East, MD; sons, Donald and his wife Valerie of Lakeland, FL; Nels & his wife JoAnn of East Brunswick, and Jeff & his wife Kimberly of Edison; 13 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; & his mother-in-law, Lorraine Parker of Asbury.
A celebration of Donald’s life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 12-2:30 pm with a service at 2:30 pm at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave (Rt.27) Metuchen. Cremation was private.
