Dorothy A. (Gerber) French, 87, died on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Woodlands Genesis Healthcare Center in Plainfield.
Dorothy was born in Elizabeth, NJ to the late George and Eleanor Gerber. She resided in Union County most of her life. Dorothy was employed by Bell Telephone in Cranford as a Billing Clerk.
Dorothy loved life. She enjoyed shopping, dinners out, AC, the racetrack; and how she loved her sweets. Her most favorite times were spent with her grandchildren.
Dorothy is predeceased by her parents; George and Eleanor Gerber; and her sister, Muriel Donahue.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kathleen French of Clark, Mary Ellen Polny of Hamilton, and Susan McDonald and her husband Robert of Edison; her five grandchildren, Kristie McDonald of Long Branch, Ashley Hajek and her husband Roberto of Hamilton; Janie McDonald of Edison; Jenna McDonald of Long Branch; and Ryan Polny of Atlanta, Ga.; and 3 great-grandchildren, Luke, Owen and Logan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 18th at 9 am in St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. The visitation will be prior to the funeral mass from 7:30 am to 8:30 am in the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 27), Metuchen.
