George I. Dapper, 68, of Normandy Beach passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at his home with his wife by his side.
George was born and raised in Iselin, NJ. He ran a successful business, George Dapper Inc., in Iselin, NJ, which he took over from his father in 1969. George attended Parsons College in Iowa, where he was a member of the fraternity TKE. After completing college, he went into the army for several years. When he returned home, he began working full-time with his father.
George worked hard and made his family business even more successful. He was always willing to help others. He was an EMT, and was happy to donate his time and services for a good cause. He also had an incredible sense of humor, and those who knew him adored him. They had 22 buses when he started working for his father, and today the company has over 475 buses. He loved and lived for the school bus business. It will be forever changed in the state of New Jersey.
George is survived by his beautiful and beloved wife of 40 years, Joanne (nee Cecere); a daughter, Carli; a son, George and his loving dog, Riley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 30th at 10 am in St. Padre Pio RC Church, 103 Washington Avenue, Lavallette. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 29th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 1225 Green Street & Cooper Avenue, Iselin.
