James W. Stives, 77, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the Mary Anne Hale Pavilion of Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
James was born in Linden, New Jersey to the late Stanley and Sophia Stives. He has lived in Edison for over 50 years. He was a parishioner of St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen. James worked for Union Local #696 installing fire sprinklers for most of his life. He was an avid reader and loved to spend time doing crossword puzzles.
James is predeceased by his brother, Stanley; and his sister, Sr. Bernadette Stives of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Marianne (Daniewicz); his son, James and his wife Maryann of Bedminster; his brothers Raymond, Edward, Robert, & Donald; his sister Eloise; his granddaughter Emily; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 10th at 9:45am from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 27), Metuchen followed by a 10:15 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, Metuchen.
