John Nikforchuk, 86, of Woodbridge died Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Mary Anne Hale Pavilion of Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Sewaren & raised in Perth Amboy, he has resided in Woodbridge since 1963. He worked as a machinist for ASARCO in Perth Amboy for 25 years, then SPEX Industries in Edison for 17 years. He was a parishioner of St. James RC Church in Woodbridge. He liked to visit Atlantic City, fish, woodwork, fix old cars, pigeon race, but most of all he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events and spending time with them.
He is predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Caroline (d.2009); parents, John & Victoria; and a brother Joseph.
He is survived by his two daughters, Joan Rosen & her husband Mike of Edison, & Carol Stivers & her husband Ed of Edison; grandchildren, Jonathan & Miranda Rosen, & Kimberly, Ed Jr. & his wife Kellen Heniford, Andrew, & Thomas Stivers; a sister, Mary Novak of Matawan; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 9:45 am from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave (Rt.27), Metuchen, followed by a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. James RC Church, Woodbridge. Entombment will take place at Holmdel Cemetery in Holmdel.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 pm.
