Roland Wuest, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 surrounded by family at Hospice Savannah.
He was born on June 21, 1926, in Metuchen, New Jersey, to Roland and Catherine Wuest. He and his first wife, Dorothy, raised their three children in the home he built on Grove Avenue, across the street from his boyhood home. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Edison, NJ after 45 years, and moved to Summerton, SC in 1993. He served as a deacon at Lake Marion Baptist Church in North Santee, SC. From his father, Roland learned a love of nature and ornamental gardening, which he enjoyed his entire life. He also loved collecting coins, working crossword puzzles, and watching westerns, but nothing gave him more joy than his family and his faith in God. Roland was predeceased by his parents, sister Ruthe Foster, brother Ralph, and first wife Dorothy Gavron Wuest, and second wife Dorothy Knight Wuest.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Wuest (Patricia) of Savannah; Barbara Wuest of Metuchen, NJ, Susan Myer (William) of Pittstown, NJ, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
Services were held at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home, Savannah, GA.
Entombment is Friday, February 3, 2017, at 1pm at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.
