Andrew D’Amore, beloved husband, father, brother, cousin, and friend, died Tuesday, August 27, 2019. His megawatt smile, raucous sense of humor, and huge and generous heart will be missed. He was 78.
He was born December 11, 1940, in Jersey City, NJ, to Albert and Rose (née Scarpa) D’Amore (both deceased). He graduated from William L. Dickinson High School in Jersey City and enlisted in the US Navy in 1959, receiving an honorable discharge in 1962. Andrew then received his BS degree in business from Saint Peter’s College (now, University) also in Jersey City. Throughout his career, he worked in a variety of industries, with nearly three decades in the jewelry business, in New York and New Jersey, on both the manufacturing and retail side.
It was during his time at Gotham Ring in New York that his life changed forever and for the better when he met his future wife, Cecilia. The two would marry and move to the suburbs of Edison, NJ, in 1974. Five years later, their son Nicholas was born.
Andrew was a lifelong lover of music, the Yankees, and the Jersey Shore. He adored his family, his friends—and, almost equally, his perfectly manicured lawn. He took great pride in his home and country and lived a rich and full life. Andrew is survived by his wife, Cecilia; his son, Nicholas; and his sisters, Mary DeFilippis, Vena D’Amore, and Patty Ann Webster.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Monday, September 2, 2019, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave, Metuchen.
