Angela E. Verlengeri, 88, formerly of Elizabeth died on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at JFK Hospital in Edison.
Angela was born in Elizabeth to the late Louis and Josephine Verlengeri. She was a lifelong resident and a beloved bilingual teacher at Elizabeth School #13. She was a devout parishioner at St. Anthony’s Church in Elizabeth, and recently St. Francis in Metuchen. She held family in the highest regard. She was a dutiful caregiver to ailing relatives and saw her ability to help and comfort them as a blessing and a privilege. Angela loved to watch tennis, tell stories, and laugh with friends, and especially family.
Angela is predeceased by her sister Marie McDonnell (2014).
Angela is survived by her niece, Kathy Misdea and her husband Dan of Metuchen; and her nephews, Michael McDonnell of Edison, Patrick McDonnell and his wife Karen of Princeton, and Robert McDonnell of Bernardsville; and her great-nephews, Daniel and Joseph Misdea.
The visitation will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 8:30am to 9:45am at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. Metuchen 08840. The funeral will begin at 9:45am from the Funeral Home; followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:15am at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. The interment will be held at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
