Ann F. Kenny, 90, of Edison, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at her home.
Born in New York, NY, she resided in Edison for 65 years.
Ann attended Cathedral High School in Manhattan and Grace Institute. She worked as a secretary at Barber Shipping Lines until becoming a mother. Her life was devoted to her family and friends. She was an avid reader. She loved history and politics and devoured the New York Times each day and several books each week. She was an avid sports fan with a special devotion to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team. She planted that devotion in many of her grandchildren. She followed the interests of each of her grandchildren with great delight and pride. They were her joy.
She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Arthur Kenny (d.2010), her sisters, Marie Campbell and Eileen Mills and her parents James and Mary Hickey.
Surviving are her children, Kevin Kenny and his wife Gail of Pittstown, Maureen Youreneff and her husband George, of Belle Meade, and Kathleen Meany of Hillsborough; seven grandchildren, Erin and Shannon Kenny, Joseph, Patrick and Timothy Youreneff, Kelly and Emma Meany; niece Barbara Mills, and nephew Thomas Mills and many dear nieces and nephews through marriage in Ohio.
Ann's family will forever be indebted to Lucia Almene who was her devoted and loving caretaker and companion over the last year and a half of her life. There is no way to adequately say thank you.
Ann had a lifelong concern and heart for the poor and struggling. She was a friend of Bill's for almost 50 years. During that time she worked tirelessly to keep her life positive and to provide a shared haven where she and others could meaningfully address their struggles.
