Clarence W. Banks Jr., 94, of Parlin, died on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Mattison Crossing at Manalapan Avenue in Freehold.
Born in Newark, he resided in Rahway and Metuchen before moving to Parlin fourteen years ago. Clarence served with the United States Coast Guard as a Chief Petty Officer. Following his military service, he worked for Wallace and Tiernan, Penwalt Corporation in Belleville as a foreman. After retiring from Wallace and Tiernan he worked at Fortunoff's in Woodbridge. Clarence loved playing cards, especially poker. He also loved taking trips to Atlantic City and spending quality time with family and friends.
He is predeceased by his wife, Edith (2002); his brother, Paul (2003); and his son, Bruce (2019).
Surviving is his daughter Alison Banks-Moore; and his granddaughters, Courtney Jennifer Moore and Waverly Banks.
Visitation will be held on Friday May 17, 2019 from 10:00am - 11:00am followed by a funeral service at 11:30 am at the New Hope Baptist Church, 45 Hampton St Metuchen. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery.
