Dominic A. Elefante, 79, of Irvington, died on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Dominic was born in the Philippines to the late Estanislao Elefante and Irene (neeAlvarez). He came to the US in 1976 residing in Newark, and then moved to Irvington in 1987. He was employed by General Motors in Linden as an Electrician for 25 years. He is a member of UAW Local #595. He enjoyed bowling, the Meadowlands racetrack, & sports (Giants & Yankees). Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending his grandson’s baseball games and his granddaughters’ dance recitals.
Dominic is survived by his wife of 50 years, Luzminda (neeSeguerra); his 3 children, Irene Elefante of Irvington, Catherine Traina and husband Steven of Edison, & Dominador, Jr. of Irvington; 3 grandchildren, Joseph, Vanessa and Gianna Traina; & 3 siblings, Manuel Elefante and his wife Carmelita of Clinton, IA, Fernando Elefante and his wife Lorna of La Mesa, CA and Lolita Abubo and her husband Aureliano of the Philippines; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 9:45 am from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 27), Metuchen, followed by a 10:15 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen. Cremation is private.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 pm.
