Edwin J. Koenig, 89, of Edison, died on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at RWJUH in New Brunswick.
Edwin was born in Freehold and grew up on a farm in Colts Neck. He received a Bachelors of Science from Monmouth College in 1961, a Masters of Science from Rutgers University in 1965, and a Masters of Science from the Newark College of Engineering in 1971. He began his career as an engineer for Kimberly Clark in Spotswood and ended his career at NJ Transit. He was also a licensed land surveyor. He was a member of the Oak Tree Presbyterian Church in Edison for over 40 years, as well as serving as an Elder & church secretary for over 25 years. He volunteered at JFK for the Meals on Wheels Program. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, skiing, gardening, and was an antique rifle collector. He also enjoyed the daily newspapers as well as completing the crossword puzzles in them.
He is predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Joan (d. 2014); parents, John & Jenny; & three siblings, John, Robert, & Charlotte Koenig.
He is survived by his two daughters, Carol J. Nocciolo and her husband Jeffrey of Piscataway & Janet M. Rinaldi and her husband Neal of New Providence; four grandchildren, Ashley and Alex Nocciolo and Michael and Lauren Rinaldi; a brother, Peter of Kent, England; and many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 10 am at The Oak Tree Presbyterian Church, 445 Plainfield Road, Edison. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
