Emil Joseph Billich, 90, of Somerset NJ passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on August 29, 1927, in Perth Amboy NJ. Emil is preceded in death by his mother Elsa (Dieter) Billich and father Emil Billich Sr. both of Perth Amboy and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dieter of Germany.
Emil was a true patriot who joined the Navy where he proudly served his country as a SeaBee and then later joined the United States Marine Corps during The Korean War where he again proudly served his country with the 7th Engineer Battalion.
Emil dedicated over 40 years with The Punia and Marc Company and over 15 years with The KRE Group as their Director of Construction.
Emil was a very intelligent and witty man who was loved and admired dearly by his family. He enjoyed building models, spending time and sharing laughs with his family and dear friends, watching old John Wayne movies and playing a good game of solitaire.
Emil is survived by his loving wife Gay of 31 years or as he affectionately called her "His Bride". He is also survived by his daughter Donna Billich and her fiancé Dan Snell and his step children: William Van Pelt and his wife Sherrie; Lauralee Van Pelt and her significant other Walter Childs; Donna Benner and her husband Rick; and James Van Pelt III (predeceased) and his wife Paytra.
Emil was also survived by his 5 step grandchildren: Christopher Kramer, Kevin Benner, Jessica Cimabue, Dominique Van Pelt, and James Van Pelt IV; along with his 3 step great-grandchildren: Nathan, Brody and Zackary.
A visitation will be on held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm and Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 10am -10:45am at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 27), Metuchen. Entombment will follow on Saturday at Somerset Hills Memorial Park & Chapel Mausoleum, in Basking Ridge.
