Emilio Frank Cesareo, 96 of Edison, died peacefully at home on October 26, 2019.
Emilio was born on May 5, 1923 in St. George Lire, Italy. When he was 3 years old, he came to America and was raised in Newark, N.J. He worked as a carpenter and was just recently presented with an Honorary member gold card in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 253, reflecting 50 years of service as a UBC union carpenter. While residing in Newark, he met his wife Josephine Guadagno and raised a family.
Emilio is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Eda (nee Miranda) Cesareo, his brother Albert Cesareo, his sisters, Elizabeth Callie, Olivia DePasquale, and Susan Occhipinti. He is also predeceased by his beloved wife Josephine (nee Guadagno) Cesareo.
He is survived by his brother, Mario Cesario, and sister, Mary Laudati, sisters in law Roxanne Lamola and Patricia LaRocca (Louis LaRocca); his daughter Rita (nee Cesareo) Fisher and her husband Emery J. Fisher, III, and his son Anthony Cesareo and his wife Joan (nee Rizzolo) Cesareo. His grandchildren, Dr. Emery Fisher, IV (Dr. Manjula Bathini), Aimee Allen (Robert Allen), Dr. Joie Fisher (Robert Tabor), Anthony Cesareo (Monsy Rivera), Edward Cesareo (Laurie Cesareo), and Maria Harris (Matthew Harris). His great grandchildren, Jake, Dylan, Dean, Andrew, Marin, Charlee, Frankie, Kensie, Ashley, Anthony, Michael, Drew, Makayla, Havanna, and Hayden, and his great-great granddaughter, Alessa.
Emilio enjoyed playing bingo with his friends at St. Helena’s Church, horse racing, and playing cards with his great grandchildren. He especially loved when the grandkids and great grandkids brought home bushels of crabs, so he could clean them for the Sunday gravy.
Family and friends may attend the visitation on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 3pm-7pm at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt.27), Metuchen, NJ 08840.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 10 am at St. Helena’s RC Church 950 Grove Avenue, Edison, NJ 08820. Entombment will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J.
