Frederick E Kimler, 85, of Metuchen peacefully passed away at his home of 53 years. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, he was a graduate of Central High School. He attended Rutgers Business School.
Frederick was employed by Sperry and Hutchinson (S & H Green Stamps) for 33 years. Following S&H, he was employed by the Costco Edison, NJ warehouse facility where he worked as a Receiving Manger for over 20 years. Frederick was a member of the St. Thomas Knights of Columbus in Old Bridge, NJ. He was a Eucharistic Minster at the Cathedral of St. Francis Assisi and a Eucharistic Adoration volunteer. Frederick was a longtime coach of the Metuchen Little League, helped establish the clubhouse and was inductee into the league’s Hall of Fame. Frederick was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed the beach, pool, sports, coaching and dancing. His two favorite teams were the “New York Yankees “and the “New York / Jersey Giants”.
Frederick is predeceased by his wife Blanche, parents William & Muriel Kimler; siblings Elsa, Robert, Dorothy, and John. Frederick is survived by his siblings William, Ray, Margaret Theys, his children: Joan Hunter of Belmar, Susan DeVeau and husband of Biloxi Mississippi, Michael Kimler of Metuchen, Fred Kimler of Keyport, Jane Kimler of Metuchen and Jennifer Swaringen and husband of Norwood, N.C. Also surviving, cherished grandchildren: Edward and Vincent Hunter, Jenna Pusillo, Brian and Brittany DeVeau, Patrick and Shannon Kimler, and Brianna Swaringen. He adored his great-grand-pets: Marci, Marshmallow, Houdini, Pumpkin, his birds (Sky and Blue), and multiple hamsters.
Viewing services will take place Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from (2 to 4 pm) and (7 to 9 pm) at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home on 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 27) in Metuchen, NJ.
Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi of Metuchen, NJ on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 10:15 am followed by a Burial service at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a memorial donation in Fred’s honor for the Social Concern Ministry. Checks are payable to St. Francis Cathedral (on reference line, please note: In memory of Fredrick E. Kimler on behalf of Social Concerns ministry). The Social Concerns supports the elderly, provides gifts to those in need for the Holiday, food services for the poor, prayer groups, and bereavement services to individuals and family in Metuchen-Edison area.
