Georgianne Cichy, 62, of Edison died on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Born in Newark, Georgianne resided in Metuchen until her marriage then moving to Edison in 1979. She had been employed by Medi-Physics in South Plainfield for 15 years where she was a lab tech and packaging coordinator.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen and a volunteer at JFK Medical Center in Edison where she accumulated over 9000 hours. . She was also a member of the JFK Auxiliary where she helped staff the gift shop for a number of years. She was named the Catalyst of the Year for being an the most inspiring Auxilian.
She called shut-ins and talked to them for hours during the day
Surviving are her husband of 39 years Arthur; her sister Barbara Hammill and her husband Kenneth of Whiting; a nephew John R. Louhier; a niece Elizabeth J. Martin and 7 nieces and nephews. Her Uncle Franklin Theiss and his wife Arlene and their children (Robyn and Eric Theiss and their children)
She was a loving Aunt (called Auntie), cousin, niece, and friend. She cared for all the people she knew and met. She had a smile for everyone she met.
She loved the holidays and celebrated them at her house with family. She looked decorating the house with help of her Aunt Arlene. She loved to cook and made several items like Auntie’s Macaroni salad and deviled eggs. People looked forward to the Hoildays just for that.
She enjoyed going to concerts, Broadway plays (over a 160), sporting events (hockey Rangers and Devils, Yankees and Mets, and the track. She loved traveling on the train and took a number trips Washington DC, Boston, Niagara Falls and Montreal over the years and enjoyed exploring each city. She always loved to visit museums everywhere she went. She did not let things stop her.
She lived a full life despite her medical afflictions for her entire life. She was an unforgettable person loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Services will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 9:45 Am from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home 568 Middlesex Ave. (RT 27) Metuchen, followed by a 10:15 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral; entombment will follow at Cloverleaf Memorial Park in Woodbridge. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 PM.
