Gilda Liberto, 91, of Bridgewater, formerly of Edison, passed peacefully on March 4 at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in Somerset, NJ.
Gilda was born on November 23, 1928 in Newark, the fourth of six daughters to Pasquale and Guiseppina Novelli, immigrants from Italy. On New Year's Eve, 1953, she met her loving husband, Nunzio. They were married in 1954 at Sacred Heart Church in Newark and lived in Newark, Brooklyn, NY and Edison, where they settled and raised two children.
Gilda worked at Revlon in Edison for 17 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed oil painting, music and was an avid reader but her greatest joy was her family.
Gilda was predeceased by her loving husband Nunzio in 2005, her sisters Elvira Faiella, Leonora Simone, Marie Mocciola and Julie Kastanas. She leaves behind her sister Concetta Lanzara, her loving children Monica Titsch and her husband, Eric, Stephen Liberto and his wife, Alma Reyes, her precious grandsons, Eric and Jacob Titsch as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gilda was a loving wife and mother and dedicated herself to her family. She took on her role as matriarch with love and pride.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 8:30 - 10:30am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home. A service will take place at 10:30am at the funeral home followed by the interment at Hillside Cemetery in Metuchen.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gilda's memory may be made to the Edison Animal Shelter, 125 Municipal Blvd, Edison, NJ or the charity of your choice.
