Hector Allende, Jr., of Edison, died at his home on November 19, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his father, Hector Allende, Sr.; daughter Barbara Allende; two grandsons, Antonio and his significant other Morgan, and William; two sisters, Cindy Allende and Yvonne Allende, and nephew Robert Allende. He is predeceased by his beloved mother, Dominga Rosario de Allende; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Born in the Bronx, NY, he moved with his family to Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1960. As a child, he loved animals, was a talented artist and was very close to his mother. He also closely watched over his younger sisters.
Hector was an loving father who was very supportive and helpful towards his daughter and grandchildren.
Hector resided in Tampa, Florida upon his retirement from General Motors in 2004. He worked at General Motors on the assembly line in Tarrytown, NY and Lordstown, Ohio for 32 years. He relocated with his daughter to New Jersey in 2015.
Hector enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He loved to cook and tend to his dog and cats. He enjoyed listening to music and dreaming about moving to Puerto Rico. He impressed everyone with his kindness, generosity, heart for the less fortunate and spirit of service towards everyone around him.
A memorial service will be held in December at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation or to Compassion International.
