Helena Czyz, nee Kasprzak, was born in Lwow Poland in 1930. After WWII, she and her immediate family found their way to England where Helena met and married the love of her life, Jan. Seeking a better future, Jan and Helena arrived in the US in 1955 and settled in Metuchen, NJ. After her husband passed away in 1982, Helena remained in Metuchen until 2000 when she moved to Pine Grove, PA .
While Helena will be remembered for her many talents including her cooking, sewing, knitting and crocheting, she will be most remembered for her love of children as shown by her choice of employment. Helena first was an employee and then the manager of the cafeteria system including the overseeing of school lunch programs in the Metuchen Public Schools for more than 20 years.
Shortly after her retirement in 1995, Helena’s fondness of children motivated her to once again become involved with the Metuchen Schools by becoming a bus aide assisting in the transportation of students with special needs.
Helena’s immediate survivors include her 4 children, Henia Wingert of Lakeland, FL; Mark Czyz and his wife Laura Kahn of Metuchen; Andrew Czyz and his wife Debbie Adams of Myrtle Beach, SC and Diane Moon and her husband Joseph of Downington, PA; her 2 sisters, Josie Heuvel of Wilton, CT and Veronica McQuillan and her husband Jack of Hillsborough, NJ. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren, Kristen, Jason, Merissa and Nick and 2 great-grandchildren, Arlen and Jack.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
