Jervis D. Lynch, 79, of Metuchen died on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at home.
Jervis was born in Glasgow and raised in Port Glasgow, Scotland. Growing up, he spent time living on the family farm near Belfast, Ireland. Jervis was a Royal Engineer in the British Armed Forces and served during peacetime in Germany. He immigrated to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY in 1963 and lived there for ten years before settling in Metuchen. He was a bricklayer for the BAC Local Union #1 in New York City and was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi in Metuchen. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed spy novels and westerns. He also loved Big Band music, American rock and roll, and jitterbugging with his favorite dance partner, his wife Mary.
He is predeceased by his sister Eileen Morrison of Greenock, Scotland.
He is survived by his wife Mary; his son, Jervis and his wife Joanna of Doylestown, PA; his daughters, Elizabeth Balish and her husband Alex of Edison, NJ and Noreen Lynch and her partner Matthew Jacobson of Bensalem, PA; four grandchildren, Jervis, Katelin, Jillian, and Lucille; and his sister, Maureen and her husband Terry Murray of Port Glasgow. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will take place Friday, November 9, 2018 at 9:45am at Costello - Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt.27) Metuchen, followed by a 10:15am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen.
Visitation is on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 4 - 8pm.
