John “Jack” W. Rabbitt, 83, of Edison, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Menlo Park Veterans Memorial Home in Edison.
He was born & raised in Jersey City, moving to Edison in 1966. He proudly served 2 years in the Army during the Korean War & was discharged from the 101st Airborne Division in 1956. He attended Seton Hall University, graduating in 1964. He held many administrative and managerial positions with RCA Corp. in Somerville for 26 years. He later worked for 25 years at the Middlesex County Planning Board in New Brunswick, only retiring this past February. He was a parishioner of St. Helena’s RC Church in Edison. He loved horseracing, casinos, game shows, jigsaw/crossword puzzles, & spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and dance.
He is predeceased by his parents, Peter & Johanna; & 3 brothers, Peter Jr., Robert, & Joseph.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Susan; 4 children, Karen Furey & husband Tim of Edison, Suzanne Consilvio of Iselin, John A. Rabbitt of Dunedin, FL, & Kevin Rabbitt of Colonia; 6 grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, Alexandra, Jacqueline, Gianna, & Nicole; & many nieces & nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 10 am at St. Helena’s RC Church in Edison. Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in Woodbridge.
Visitation is Friday from 4-8 pm at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave (Rt.27), Metuchen.
