Josephine T. Araneo, 68, of Metuchen died on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at her home after a long illness.
Josephine was born in Caracas, Venezuela to Giambattista Araneo and Veronica Pucillo. She lived in East Orange, NJ throughout most of her childhood and teenage years. She attended Seton Hall University in South Orange and later at the Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas. After graduation Josephine worked at the Embassy of the United States for many years. She spent the last 20 years of her life as a resident of Metuchen.
Josephine is a communicant of St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen. She also attended their bible study classes. Josephine enjoyed family gatherings especially with her great-nieces and nephews, cooking them meatballs and loved the family pets.
Josephine is predeceased by her father, Giambattista Araneo. She is survived by her mother, Veronica Pucillo Araneo, her brother, John Araneo and his wife Maria “Maggie” of Metuchen; her sister, Gerardina Veman and her husband Tamas of Rockaway, NJ; her nieces and nephews, John Battista (Jennifer), Veronica (Paul), Kristina (John), Alexander and Thomas (Alicia); and seven great-nieces & nephews, Gianluca, Leila, Johanna, Matthew, William, Tyler and Jack.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 9:45 am from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 27) Metuchen followed by a 10:15 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen.
