Louise M. Tavares, 96, of Roselle Park & Edison, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Edison.
Born in North Newark, she had lived in Nutley, the Ironbound section of Newark for many years and eventually moved to Bloomfield. In 1997 she moved to Roselle Park. As a young girl, she worked for a physician's family doing various chores such as baby sitting, housework and answering the phone. She loved her job and worked there until she was old enough to get a full time position in Western Electric in Kearny. That's where she met and eventually married her husband, Joseph. Louise loved writing poetry & playing the lottery.
She is predeceased by her husband Joseph, her parents, Louis Mossucco & Christine Pecci and six siblings, Frank, Vincent, Louis, Bridgette, Mary, & Santa.
She is survived by two children, Christine Garcia & her husband Edward of Edison, & Joseph of Roselle Park; a sister, Antoinette Gregson of Toms River; & many nieces & nephews.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 between 4:00 and 8:00 pm. The funeral will take place Friday, September 4, 2020 at 9:45am at Costello - Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt.27) Metuchen, followed by a 10:15am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen. Interment will take place at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
