Mary Lyons Colletto, 80, of Edison, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at her home.
Mary was the eldest child of Frank Edward and Pauline (Combenakis) Lyons. She was born on February 24, 1940 in New Brunswick.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Pauline Lyons; her brother, Frank Edward Lyons, Jr.; her sister, Carolinda Lyons Parillo; and infant daughter, Diane Carol.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Anthony “Tony” Colletto; her beloved children, Leslie C. McCullough of Somerset; Anthony Jr. and his wife Janet of Houston, Texas; and the joy of her life, her grandson, Joey F. Colletto of Warminster, PA. She is also survived by her sister-in-law’s, Dorothy Lyons of Houston, Texas; Mildred Prendergast of Michigan; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law William and Karen Colletto of Edison; her many nieces and nephews, including Lisa, Michele, Paul, Jennifer, Pamela, Frank Jr., Diane, Kathy, Billy Jr., Cindy, and Matthew; many cousins, including her special cousin, Toni Lynn Sardis; as well as many special friends.
Mary attended North Brunswick High School class of 1958.
She worked in the dental field and spent over 35 years as an office manager and communications coordinator for the orthodontic practice of Howard D. Dimond DDS, PA. After retirement from the orthodontic field, she spent 15 years in general dental practices.
Mary was an avid reader. She loved the beach, especially the Jersey shore. Mary and Tony spent the winters at their home in Estero, Florida. They loved their home in Florida and met wonderful people from all over the country, but there was no place like home. Mary was a Jersey girl.
Mary was a decorative painter and was a member of the Society of Decorative Painters and a member of Brushing Violets, a local painting chapter. She was very active in the chapter and held many positions; she was president of the chapter at the time of her death. Brushing Violets and all the members filled a very special place in her heart. Mary was a faithful member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 11:30 am at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 1101 River Road, Piscataway followed by interment at Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday from 4 - 6 pm at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt.27), Metuchen.
