Michael G. Lynch, 65, of Iselin died on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in the Lyons VA Hospital.
Michael was born in Boston, MA to the late Walter and Mary Lynch. He had lived in Brooklyn before residing in Iselin for the past 41 years. He served his country in the United Stated Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Michael was a professional Firefighter in the Jersey City Fire Department for 25 years, ultimately serving as Captain, before retiring in 2005. His most recent employment was as Fire Safety Director at JP Morgan Chase Bank in Jersey City. He was also the Captain of the Iselin Volunteer Fire Company #1.
Michael was a member of the Essex County Emerald Society Police & Fire Pipe & Drum Band, and also a member of the Leatherneck Pipes and Drum Band. He belonged to the VFW in Avenel and the Viet Nam Veterans of America. He was an avid collector of unique Marine and Firefighter memorabilia.
Michael is predeceased by his brother, Mark Lynch. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Liska Lynch; his two sons, Ryan P. Lynch and his wife Deepa Kairen of South Orange and Timothy M. Lynch and his wife Sara of North Brunswick; 4 grandchildren, Zachary, Sahana, Aryana and Devina.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 31st at 9:15 am at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 1225 Green Street & Cooper Avenue, Iselin followed by a 10:30 am Mass in St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church, Avenel. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. All services will end at church. Cremation is private.

Mike was a unique and passionate individual. He had a great deal of pride and affection for his family and service. He is loved by his family and friends.
