Nicholas P. Scarpelli, “Nickie”, 66, of Edison passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Nickie was born in Plainfield and was a lifelong Edison resident. He was a part of the Family Business at World of Tile in Springfield. Nickie was an avid coin collector as well as a registered coin dealer. He also loved to garden and collect antiques and collectables. Guitars were his passion and he loved to play in his spare time. Nickie was a true craftsman who loved wood restoration, and was a true perfectionist in everything he did. He was a NY Mets and Rangers Fan.
Nickie is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginger” Scarpelli (Kroschinski); his mother, Joyce Scarpelli (Chester); his sisters, Dorothy “Chippy” Scarpelli of Edison, Vera Kroschinski of Hazlet, and Gina Coffey and her husband Shane of Metuchen; and his nieces and nephews, Sheryl, Peter, Christopher, Stephanie, Joseph, Michael, Susan, Conor, and Karissa.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 9:15AM from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 27) Metuchen followed by a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Helena RC Church, Edison. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM.
