Nick was a loving, talented, creative and caring son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. His joys in life were playing the guitar, playing video games, watching sports and movies, listening to music, going to concerts and eating good food.
He had a tremendous amount of natural musical talent. He could shred a guitar and pick up just about any instrument, play around with it for a bit and be able to make music with it. He was also a talented writer and had several original musical compositions.
He was an avid fan of the New Jersey Devils, New York Jets and New York Mets.
Nick was full of love and cared deeply for his family and friends.
Nick was pre-deceased by his paternal grandparents, Richard Phelan, Sr. and Anna Phelan.
He is loved and very much missed by his mother and father Marie and Richard Phelan, Jr.; sisters Erin Phelan, Rachel Phelan and Ashante Smith; maternal grandparents, Ray Carty and Rebecca Howell; aunt and uncle Adrienne and James Harrison; aunts Lucy Phelan and Dee Dill; uncle Josh Carty, cousins Jack and Kate Harrison and his extended family and many friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Nick's life will be held at The Unitarian Society, 176 Tices Lane, East Brunswick on Sunday, February 28th at 4 pm.
Sadly, we lost our beloved Nick to the disease of addiction but an addict is not who he was. To help prevent losing other precious lives to this disease, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made directly to City of Angels at http://www.cityofangelsnj.org/donation/.
