Paul Martinez, 83, of Edison, died on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Parker at Landing Lane in New Brunswick.
He was born in Brooklyn, where he lived for 38 years. He also lived in Hasbrouck Heights and in Minnesota before moving to Edison in 1981. He was an accountant for Traffic Safety Service in South Plainfield for over 20 years and for his wife’s business, Dolores Bridal Boutique, in Edison. He loved to travel and exercise. He had many interests and hobbies which included a passion for photography where he developed photos in his own dark room; numerous sports teams but especially Real Madrid and his hometown Brooklyn Dodgers; and a range of music from Elvis to Bruce Springsteen, Mexican rancheras and flamenco.
He is predeceased by his parents, Mike & Anna; & a nephew, Frank Sanguinedo & brother-in-law Frank Sanguinedo.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolores; 2 children, Mike Martinez & his wife Michelle Cherande of Manhattan, and Anna Martinez & her husband Steve Stacy of Princeton; 4 grandchildren, Maya & Maddie Martinez, and Lola & Santiago Stacy; one sister, Mabel Sanguinedo of Staten Island; a sister-in-law, Amparo Barbeito of Flemington; a brother-in-law Manuel Barbeito & his wife Maria Jesus of Spain; nieces and nephews, Richie Sanguinedo, Joanne Naveira, Maria Barbeito, Raymond Otero, Robert Otero, Manuela Barbeito, & Alberto Barbeito.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 10 am at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave (Rt.27), Metuchen NJ 08840. Cremation will be private.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm.
