Ratilal Pursottamdas Kapadia, 85, of Piscataway, died peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at JFK Hospital in Edison, New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kamala Kapadia; 2 loving sons, Vijay and Jatin; 1 brother, Harshad and his wife Hemalata; 1 sister in-law, Manjula; 4 grandchildren, Milan, Teagan, Kiren, Nina; and many other close relatives. Ratilal was predeceased by his parents, Pursottam and Kashiben Kapadia; and his brother, Babulal.
Born in Gandevi, India on September 13, 1934, he first immigrated to London from Bombay with his family in 1966, and then moved to New Jersey where he resided for 48 years. Ratilal loved his family, and spent time in his retirement taking walks, swimming and watching his favorite television shows. A fellow of the American Chemical Society, he graduated from Gujarat University in 1959 with a masters degree in inorganic chemistry. He also led a fulfilling 35 year career as a senior chemist at Roche Biochemical.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2019 at 10 am, at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 27) Metuchen; followed by cremation at the Rosedale and Rosehill Cemetery, 750 E Linden Ave, Linden, NJ 07036.
