On Monday, December 2, 2013, Robert A. Holzapfel of Hawley, PA passed away peacefully at the age of 76.
Born in Passaic, he resided in Carlstadt and Edison, NJ before moving to Hawley nine years ago.
Robert served in the US Coast Guard Reserve. Before he retired to a house he built on a lake, he was a self employed contractor. Bob was a man who deeply loved his family and friends, and who also enjoyed and respected nature.
He was predeceased by a treasured brother, Frederick. Surviving are his beloved wife, the former Barbara McHenry; his cherished children, Pamela Holzapfel, Robert M. Holzapfel, and Elise Smiljanic; six adored grandchildren, Johnine, Alexander, Jessica, Nicholas, Thomas and Sofia; and a dear sister, Doris Cain. Also carrying on are Bob's dearly loved son-in-law Sam, daughter-in-law Kim, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and several long time dear friends.
Visitation hours with his family will be on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue, Metuchen, NJ. A Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen, NJ.
