Rocco P. Caposino, 91, passed away on Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 in Edison New Jersey.
Rocco was born in Orange New Jersey on March 2nd, 1927 to an Italian immigrant family, the youngest of 8 brothers and sisters. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Europe during World War II. After returning home he met Viola Valente, the love of his life, and the two were married a few years later in 1956. Together they settled in West Orange and started a family, having two sons, Richard and Michael. Michael passed away in 1984 of cancer.
After many years working at Ceramic Magnetics, Rocco retired to Valrico, Florida, living there for several years before moving back up to Manahawkin, New Jersey to be closer to his family.
Rocco loved his wife, his family, old Westerns, golf and the New York Knicks and Giants. He was married to Viola for 51 years until her passing in 2007. He played golf and was a caddy for many years at the Essex County Country Club. He happily watched the Knicks win two championships and the Giants win four Super Bowls in his lifetime. In his later years he lived near and then with his son Richard and his family in Metuchen, NJ, spending time with his grandchildren and watching the Knicks and Giants be less successful. This lack of success perhaps led him to enjoy the occasional Manhattan.
Rocco is survived by his son, Richard and his wife Christina, three grandchildren: Roman, Cole and Sophia and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 8th at 10am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 27) Metuchen followed by the interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
The visitation will be on Friday from 4-8pm.
