Rosario Maiorana, 96, of Edison, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at JFK Hospital in Edison.
Rosario was born in Sicily, Italy to the late Carmelo and Carmela Maiorana. Rosario moved to New York when he was 12 years old. He later moved to Edison where he’s lived for the past 84 years with his wife, Domenica. Rosario was a parishioner at St. Matthew’s Church in Edison. He was a Veteran of the US Army where he was a Combat Engineer. He also worked as a Mason for Local Union #15 which is now Local #5 in Edison. Rosario loved to hunt, fish, & garden and was a member of the Brer Rabbit Sportsman’s Club as well as a member of the Hungarian Club in New Brunswick.
Rosario is predeceased by his son, Carmelo (1997); granddaughter, Marie (2017); and his sister Angelina.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Domenica; his daughter, Caterina (Cathy) Maietta and her husband John of Edison; 4 grandchildren, Lisa, JoAnna, Christopher, and Roseanne; 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary, Dylan, Adalynn, and Caleb; & a daughter-in-law, Ruth Maiorana of Highland Park.
The day of the funeral, Saturday, December 29th, there will be a short visitation from 8:15am-8:45am, with the actual services starting at 8:45 am from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave, Metuchen followed by a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Matthew's RC Church, the entombment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Domenica would be greatly appreciated.
