Rudolf Hensen, 85, of Metuchen, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at JFK Hospital in Edison.
Born in Samerang, Indonesia, Rudolf moved to Yonkers in 1961 and later moved to Metuchen in 2010. He grew up in Indonesia with a large family with 12 other brothers and sisters. While living in Yonkers, Rudolf served as a Deacon, Elder, and volunteer at the Day Spring Presbyterian Church. He worked in construction and maintenance at the Bronx Zoo and also volunteered at the Sheriff’s Department. Rudolf enjoyed fishing and playing the penny slots at Mohegan Sun and Atlantic City with his family and friends. He absolutely loved the family get together’s and dinners with his family.
Rudolf is predeceased by son Clark (1981).
Rudolf is survived by his wife of 61 years, Flora; his daughter Maureen Ulley and her husband George of Thornwood NY; his son, Herman and his wife Sharon of Metuchen; 7 grandchildren, Jaclyn, Rachel, Rebecca, John, Jason, Michael, and Lisa; 2 great-grandchildren, David and Giuliana; and nephews and niece, Jeff, Louis, Max, and Jeannette.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 4 - 8pm with words of remembrance at 7pm. Cremation will be private.
