Thakuri “Galo” Kissoon, 86, of Edison, died on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at her home.
Born in Guyana, she came to the United States, residing in Jersey City in April 1978. She later lived in Port Reading before moving to Edison in 1983. She attended mass at Guardian Angels, Edison. She liked to gamble at the casino, playing the slots. Her passion was gardening, doing crossword puzzles, cooking, & especially spending time with family.
She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph (d.1970); a son, Ramchand; siblings, Bob, Kathleen, Pinky, & Pulmattie; & son-in-law, Chet.
She is survived by her 5 children, Serojnie Singh of Florida, Sahoodri Ramkhelawan of Pittsburgh, PA & Edison, Hemwattie (Kamela) Shalit & husband Kevin of Clark, Beeram Alvin Kisson (Retired US Army) of Edison, & Kashnarine (Kamchand) Kissoon of Ridge, Long Island, NY; daughter-in-law, Ishwattie Kissoon of Hillsborough; 10 grandchildren, Ravi, Preeta, Pamela, Donald, Kenneth, Bobby, Trevor, Nicholas, Nestor, & Nathaniel; 6 great-grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, Aidan, Annaleese, Jonathan, Justin; brother, Poto Harnanrine; & many friends & nieces & nephews.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 8:30 am - 10:30 am at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt.27), Metuchen, followed by cremation at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-9 pm.
