Vincent Anthony Bogan, 84, of Piscataway, died peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family after a short courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in the Bradley Gardens Section of Bridgewater, New Jersey, he resided in Roselle, New Jersey before moving to Piscataway, New Jersey in 1964. He then worked for Emery Air Freight in Port Newark as a truck driver. He was a parishioner of St. Matthew’s RC Church in Edison. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus in Rahway. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a proud member of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association) and fulfilled a dream of having his private pilot’s license for 30 years. He traveled with his wife Anne to 49 states, Hawaii being the last on the list. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and children, having visited 45 states together. Vinnie and Anne, enjoyed cruising, trips to Ireland, Jamaica, Bermuda, visiting many National Parks and spent the last 17 winters in their happy place, South Padre Island in Texas. He completed many items off his bucket list including flying in a Hot-Air Balloon and Helicopter. He was very proud of his Irish heritage & culture. Irish folk music, John Denver and traditional country music was his absolute favorite. He was an avid gardener. He also enjoyed baking bread and pies with wife Anne with what he grew in his garden. He was a big fan of Rutgers Football and had season tickets for years with his brother Jack. He will also be missed by his faithful buddy, his dog Oscar. Above all, his most favorite thing to do was to spend quality time with his family.
He is predeceased by his parents, Edward Bogan and Mary “Polly” Bogan; siblings, Edward, Frank (Sally), & Thomas. His two grandchildren, Emily and Beckett.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Mary “Anne” (nee Logan); 5 children, Theresa Talian and George of Piscataway, Elizabeth Bogan of Piscataway, Ann Malone and Thomas of Piscataway, Vincent Bogan of Brooklyn, NY and Michael Bogan & Amrita Raman of Bridgewater; his grandchildren, Kristine Bogan, Thomas Malone, Taylor Malone, Priya Raman-Bogan, Aidan Raman-Bogan, & Christina “Tina” Talian; 8 Siblings, Jack & Maryanne of Bridgewater, Mary Scibetta & Pete of Wayne; Patricia Acken & Al of Belleair, FL, Joseph & Maryellen (Cindy) of Russell, Kansas; Gerard & Mary Catherine of Cumming, Georgia, sister Maria Joseph of Lancaster, PA, Bernard of Holiday, FL and Steven of New Port Richey, Florida; 2 sisters-in-law, Victoria of Whiting & Barbara of California. He will be greatly missed as a Brother in Law; Uncle and Godfather by his extended family and friends.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 10:15 am at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave (Rt.27), Metuchen, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Matthew’s RC Church in Edison. Interment will take place at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 9, 2020, from 4-8pm.
Visitation is permitted and there is adequate room safe social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Vinnie’s name to the Dominican Nuns of the Perpetual Rosary, 1834 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601, where his sister, Maria Joseph (Geraldine) resides.
