William J. Shibley, 81, of Edison, passed away on Thursday, February 08, 2018, at the Mary Anne Hale Pavilion Haven Hospice, Edison.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he has resided in Edison since 1966. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a retired tractor trailer driver.
William was a parishioner of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Piscataway. He was a lifetime member and past commander at the VFW Post 3117, Edison, a member of the Moose Lodge 1978, Edison and a member of the Order of Ahepa Monroe Chapter #75. He is predeceased by his siblings Catherine Joan Kirwan and James Shibley.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Sotira Shibley (nee Kostangelopes); two children Katherine Powell and her husband John of Sanford, FL and Anna Sullivan and her husband Larry of Edison; three grandchildren Christina Sullivan, Joseph Sullivan and Patrick Riordan, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will take place Monday at 9:15 am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt.27) Metuchen (costello-runyon.com) followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Piscataway.
Interment is in Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick. Visitation is Sunday 2-6pm.
